Zero Population Portland or heath-care for none

We are watching the Supremes today to see whether they legislate from the bench as they so often do, or do the job they are supposed to do in a non-partisan way. If healthcare in the United States is unable to provide any sort of comprehensive, low-cost healthcare, it is clear that we have a real class system at work.

Rotten from the top down

Being a reasonable tree-hugging, left-wing liberal (yeah I said it) I decided NOT to jump on the Occupy bandwagon, but to stand back and see how the different sides revealed their agendas. And every night now I become a more rabid Occupy supporter. I began to see images that reminded me just too clearly of Kent State, Chicago, and Selma. Its becoming alarmingly clear that the machines of the Nation Cities and States serve the 1% wealthiest first! America is rotten from the top down and it IS time for extreme measures.

A Midwife Crisis

A Midwife Crisis: How do you know which option is best for you.

I am thinking of having a baby soon, so with that in mind i have been doing my usual obsessive researching and information gathering. I am the type of person who becomes voracious for whatever i am perusing in life and likes to plan way way way ahead. some people find that sort of thing (and me) exhausting but i find it a fun an fascinating step to take towards any journey i go on be it travel or milestone related. i also believe in no stone unturned. C'est moi.

Justus

I had my second and last day of jury duty today. I was released after making it clear that i had a certain bias about the case. i probably would have stayed on had i not but i am a person driven by my emotions, as most artistic types are, and i have a hard time not letting them sway me. Justice is defined by more than just the law. i don't agree with many of the laws or like the way they are written so the system is a tough one for me.

J'accuse!

I am not a climber. My shoulders are wider than my hips for one and despite eight months of hard training and a 75% reduction in beer consumption I have yet to lose more than a single pound.

US credit rating ...like Mine!

Ah great...so now the United States credit rating has been downgraded. Lovely, that may cost us a pretty penny. We shall see, its said that when Japan had a reduced credit rating it did not affect loans and housing. Still, all this over RepubliCONs holding the government hostage intentionally. What a group of wankers. You know Norman Goldman had a caller that said the republicans have never denied being the party that represents the rich, I wonder if thats accurate. Should be pretty interesting monday to see how the market is affected by this. It already has dropped like a rock!

Norman Goldman KPOJ 6-9PM

I'm listening to the Norman Goldman show on KPOJ 6-9PM. One of the more sane and clear minded progressive hosts, he makes no bones about his feeling on the presidents weak progressive agenda. Norman is one of the few progressive talk show hosts that keep me from jumping ship. I have been so disgusted with the self-interested Democrats that I am considering leaving the party. Norman who is also disgusted with the lack of progressive agenda has a more moderate response, (when I tend to get pretty hot under the collar).

theres nothing you can teach me that i cant learn from mr hathaway

so ya im at work again and bored out of my mind but i keep thinking about amy winehouse. shes like one of my all time favorite voices along with billy holiday and macie gray. and also i read a lot about her and really liked her as a person. ya fucked up beyond belief but also sweet and real in her rambling intoxicated way. what a drag. main thing is she would have given us more stuff to dream on.

grrrr one of those days!

i wanted my fist blog to be a positive one but that is not gonna happen. everybody is sick and out at work today and I'm developing a seriously poor attitude. i haven't had any sleep because we partyd to much this weekend and it was no help that my girlfriend ran off with my boyfriend. well it was just to find her cat which they did in about an hour (I was way too drunk) but still I woke up with a huge headache. i get to work and the first thing that happens is I drop my new blackberry in the toilet! I seem to do this every two years or more!

Sail Away...weak, seriously!

Well, its over now! The house has passed the debt-ceiling deal worked out by President Obama and now the senate will pass it quickly. The Democrats have traded away responsibilty and progressive values for nothing other than Obama's selfish, shortsighted political (and mistaken) goals. It took a weak Democrat to do what Republicans have been trying to do for years.

Collings Mandos

I admit it I'm getting very impatient for a Collings MF. Made in Austin Texas, they are sooooo sweet, but not cheap. The best price I've seen was a used MF for about $2400 and usually they go for around $3400 used or so and just under $5400 new. Believe it or not these are the bottom of the line Collings! Now for some that's pretty reasonable but for me thats a bit pricey! So I will have to look around and be a bit inventive.

Stay Gold

Yes its getting harder every year to keep voting, still when I lose my impetus I hear someone like Norman Goldman or Rachael Maddow advising me to keep passing the open windows. OK, so that's what I'm trying to do but honestly, its an uphill slog these days. I'm don't believe this is all fixable with the current corporatocracy. The Coke brothers and Walmart have much more effect on our system than we do. So...then what is our strategy? Maybe it time to bring back madame guillotine? Hows your knitting?
